A spectacular hill resort, fully renovated in November 2003. Perched amidst luxur
iant tropical forest with sweeping views over the
confluence of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers and the jungle-covered hills of Myanmar
and Laos, the resort is located in a region rich in history and culture known as
the Golden Triangle. The resort's 160 acres of natural bamboo forest are
cris-crossed by elephant trails and home to exotic birds, native flora and
fauna. The resort's extensive tropical gardens were designed by award-winning
landscape artist, Bill Bensley. The two-storey royal Thai Lanna-style resort
snakes across a hill-crest, from where all of its 90 rooms and down to the river
valley. Defining the resort's luxury retreat status is its Mandara Spa, a
tranquil hideaway where guests can be pampered and soothed using ancient Thai
herbal therapies. Skin softening facials, toning body wraps, salt scrubs and a
range of blissful aromatic and Thai massages complement a spa cuisine menu that
stress fresh, locally-grown produce and healthy juices. In the guest rooms, the
Anantara's signature bathrooms with deep 'sharing' terrazzo bathtubs can be
opened up onto bedrooms to create a luxuriously romantic room. For guests
on a working retreat, all rooms have in-room data-ports.
